Q: How long did it take you to grow your goatee?

A: This has got to be my most frequently asked question. Complete strangers ask it all the time. The answer is rather unremarkable: about a year. Not that I was keeping track at the time that I grew it. But I went through at least a year of trimming and re-trimming until I got it just the way I like it. So I guess a year of growing plus a year of trimming, give or take a few months.

Q: How long did it take you to write "The Man of Nightstone"?

A: I began working on the book in late August of 2009 and completed the first draft in May of 2011. In that time, there were a number of weeks (sometimes months) where I had to "take a break" from writing. So I was forced to make the most of whatever writing time I could find or engineer.

Q: What were your influences/inspirations for "The Man of Nightstone"?

A: The best answer I can give to this is...
Joss Whedon's "Firefly" + Jim Butcher's "Dresden Files" + Doctor Who + my brain =
"The Man of Nightstone"
